Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some news from football.london journalist Alasdair Gold which suggests that the North London club are looking at Juventus defender Merih Demiral.
According to Gold in a football.london article (via The Spurs Web), the Lilywhites are looking at making a move for the 22-year-old defender before the transfer window shuts next week.
The Turkish international impressed in his six appearances in Serie A for the Old Lady last season; averaging a strong 7.05 rating (per Whoscored).
He would’ve perhaps made significantly more, if not for a cruciate ligament rupture that he suffered in January, which kept him out for 20 games (per Transfermarkt).
The young defender is currently valued at £24.3 million by Transfermarkt, although Fabrizio Romano has recently suggested that Juventus do not want to sell the former Sassuolo man, so, Spurs may have to pay over the odds if they want to bring him to North London before the end of the transfer window.
Would you like to see Spurs sign Demiral?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the Lilywhites’ reported interest in Demiral can be seen in the tweets below.
You obviously haven’t watched him play. Demiral is light years ahead of Sanchez and Dier. However, Juve won’t sell as they have just loaned out Rugani.
