A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Alex Hurst, the chair of the Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust (NUST), as he discussed Amanda Staveley’s accusations that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur undermined the proposed takeover of the Toon by Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium.
It has now been revealed that in ‘Project Big Picture‘, top clubs will be able to influence all Premier League takeovers.
In response to this, Hurst has asked the Premier League to look again at their claim that there was no outside influence on the failure of the proposed takeover of the Toon.
The deal, which involved PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers, was withdrawn on 30th July with the Premier League yet to reach a decision on the deal.
Staveley then claimed that the likes of Liverpool and Spurs were strongly against this happening.
Now that ‘Project Big Picture‘ has come to light, many Newcastle fans feel that there was outside influence on the league to not pass the takeover.
Do you think now that there was outside influence on the takeover?
Yes, it is looking that way
No, there was none
Hopefully it will all come out in the wash, but things are really starting to stack up heavily against the @premierleague

@premierleague have said today they are against this. That wouldn’t have been the case if it hadn’t been leaked though, would it?
Seems this plan has been in the hatching for some time, and has obviously had a bearing on the #NUFCTakeover. Evidential case looks stronger now.— Lambeth Mag (@psad2) October 12, 2020
I didnt believe this at first but now its crystal clear, big teams stopped it

And they report that the plans have been in place for months so the Premier league need to tell us again that the “big six” did not say anything about our takeover attempt ?? it’s all coming out now #NUFC #NUFCTakeover #corrupt #corruptionatitsfinest

Other Toon fans, though, are angry with the NUST because they accepted Richard Masters’ answers, which he provided to them in a meeting back in August.
Their lies are complicit, and @nufctrust‘s meeting with the PL was a sham.
But we knew this.
The Trust naively walked in thinking that the @premierleague would be truthful.
Disappointing all around.

I know and you just accepted there answers and were thrilled that they’d even responded to you by essentially saying nahhhh don’t be daft nothing dodgy has gone on.

I think Mikes legal teams are going to have a field day…….! #nufc https://t.co/d6iXyGke5K

It was clear the whole thing was rotten and corrupt from the start. Accepting what Masters said at face value was kind of laughable, frankly.

It has been claimed that plans for ‘Project Big Picture‘ are now dead because of the intense opposition to it, including from the government and a lot of Premier League clubs.
However, given that clubs like Liverpool wanted to have the power to veto other Premier League clubs’ takeovers, then perhaps Staveley had a point in accusing them of influencing the Premier League’s stance on the proposed Toon takeover.
The deal is now with the lawyers, so if there was anything dodgy that went on to stop this takeover, then it could be revealed in any legal proceedings that follow.
