First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

On the topic of this proposal that has been drawn up by Liverpool’s owners and backed by the Manchester club, Maguire had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Here we have American owners who have been in the game for about seven or eight years at Liverpool, American owners who have been in the game [for] 15 years in the shape of Manchester United, wanting to destroy the history and the heritage of English football to make it more like the NFL, because some of the other things that they’re proposing is that the season will start later and the reason for this is it will allow clubs to play more exhibition games overseas.

“That’s not what you became a Crystal Palace fan for, that’s not what I fell in love with the game for and if I talk to my mates, certainly who I share an office with at Liverpool, they’re not bothered about United or Liverpool playing Inter Milan in Pennsylvania, they want to see their club play at Anfield.”

Some of the changes put forward in the proposal, which has been called ‘Project Big Picture’, include the voting structure of the Premier League, as well as funding models for the EFL and FA.

In response to this proposal, the Premier League released a statement on Sunday in which they revealed that ‘a number of the individual proposals in the plan published today could have a damaging impact on the whole game’ moving forward.

TIF Thoughts Man United and Liverpool’s Premier League proposal…

It’s good to see Liverpool and United coming together to try and put changes into place that could benefit clubs across the country.

However, it appears as though the Premier League are not in agreement with some of the proposed changes the two clubs have put forward.

As well as this, Maguire also doesn’t seem convinced by the proposal either.

Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see if the two clubs would be willing to negotiate with the Premier League to work out a deal that could benefit all parties.
