Speaking recently on an Oddschecker YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano discussed Leeds United’s reported interest in Cagliari midfielder, Nahitan Nandez.
Since moving to Cagliari from Boca Juniors in what was a £16.2 million deal last year, Nandez has so far gone on to feature 40 times for the club, chipping in with two goals and providing four assists along the way.
According to Cagliari president, Tommaso Giulini, Leeds are interested in making a move for the £20.7 million-rated 24-year-old, although, Giulini went on to state that he can ‘rule out‘ the midfielder leaving prior to the transfer window closing on Monday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s interest in Nandez was one of the topics of conversation in a recent YouTube video posted by Oddschecker, with Romano claiming that the player is indeed “appreciated” by the Leeds boss.
He said: “[I’ve seen] some rumours about Nandez [from] Cagliari – he’s a player that Bielsa likes so much [from when] he was [at] Boca Juniors, he is so appreciated by Marcelo Bielsa, but it’s not easy because Cagliari are going to ask [for] €20 million to sell him.”

From Romano’s comments, it would appear that the journalist is very much of the belief that Bielsa is a fan of the Cagliari midfielder, however, he also feels that the likely €20 million (£18.1 million) asking price set by the Serie A side will not make the potential deal easy for Leeds.
However, considering the fact that the club’s proposed deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance recently fell through, it could be argued that Bielsa may still be looking to strengthen in central midfield over the remaining days of the summer transfer window.
As such, the club’s reported interest in Nandez could have the potential to turn into a more concrete offer over the coming days, so this is a possible deal that we will certainly be keeping a very close eye on as deadline day draws closer.
