This comes after Phillips recently made a guest appearance on Leeds-themed podcast Leeds That where he spoke about a number of topics concerning the Yorkshire club.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

During the episode, Phillips had this to say on Bamford and the recent hat-trick he scored in Leeds’ Premier League match away at Aston Villa.

He said: “I’m very happy for Pat, because he does deserve it and he’s a very hardworking player. He’s obviously had a lot of slack over the years and especially against Villa.

“I’ve been speaking to Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings at England and I was just dying to beat them and I put up on my Story when Pat scored I was absolutely buzzing, I was screaming and punching the air and I ended up hurting my shoulder even more.”

Bamford has played in all six of Leeds’ Premier League fixtures so far this season in which he has managed to score six goals and provide one assist along the way.

The 27-year-old’s performances in those appearances have earned him a current season rating of 7.51/10, making him Leeds’ highest-rated player so far this season (per WhoScored).

Bamford’s performance against Villa earned him a perfect match rating of 10/10 for the three goals he scored against Dean Smith’s side.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Phillips had suffered a shoulder injury during the club’s 1-0 defeat to Wolves and would miss up to six weeks of action.

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ comments on Bamford…

It’s nice to hear these kind words Phillips has for Bamford and the delight he had at seeing him score against Villa. Hopefully, Phillips didn’t damage his shoulder too much in his celebrations during the win at Villa Park and can be back ready to play again as soon as possible.
