Aston Villa journalist James Rushton has been sharing his thoughts on how the club has acted during the current summer transfer window.

This comes after Rushton recently made an appearance on the latest episode of the Birmingham Mail’s Claret & Blue Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.

On the topic of Villa’s recent incoming transfers throughout the window and what he would like to see the club do before the deadline, Rushton had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I’d like an extra striker [on Monday]. [Let’s] see what happens with [Milot] Rashica, another loan deal here or there just to patch the squad up.

“I think the business is done, and between [Emiliano] Martinez, [Matty] Cash, Ollie Watkins and everyone else that has come in, it’s pretty impressive.”

So far in the window, Villa have spent a total sum of £74.12 million on bringing in players such as Bertrand Traore, Cash, Watkins and Martinez as Rushton mentioned in the podcast.

As well as signing these players, Villa also managed to sign Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Rushton also mentioned Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica in the podcast, who has been linked with a move to Villa Park throughout the summer window.

Villa have got their 2020/21 Premier League season off to a fantastic start, winning all of their first three league games including their recent 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool at Villa Park.

In the match against Jurgen Klopp’s side, Villa’s record signing Watkins scored a first-half hat-trick to help his side continue their winning run of form in the league.

TIF Thoughts…

With the summer transfer window set to close at the end of the day, it will be interesting to see if Villa do manage to bring anyone else in before then, such as Rashica, or not.
