Many Celtic fans have been talking about the club’s links with a move to sign Milan’s Diego Laxalt.

Gianluca Di Marzio recently reported that Laxalt is now set to join Celtic on loan from the Rossoneri. It has been reported that the Hoops came across as the most ‘concrete’ option for the player in the last few days of the window.

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has now confirmed that Celtic are holding talks with Milan to add an option to buy in the loan deal and Laxalt will arrive in London to complete a medical ahead of a move to Parkhead.

Would Laxalt be a brilliant signing for Celtic?

The 27-year-old had spent the first half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Torino. He had joined the Rossoneri from Genoa in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £13.41 million (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans also made their opinions clear about their chase of Laxalt.

Laxalt was a regular for Torino in his loan spell at the club in the first half of last season and he made 20 appearances in Serie A for Milan in the 2018/19 campaign as well (as per Transfermarkt).

So he clearly has the experience of playing first-team football and apart from being able to play at left-back, he can play on the left side of the midfield and in the central midfield position too.

Greg Taylor is the club’s only out-and-out option for the left-back position and they don’t have a single out-and-out player for the left midfield spot. Laxalt could fill those gaps in the club’s first team.

So, it is understandable why some Celtic fans are pretty happy about the club’s potential signature of Laxalt.
