Celtic earned a 1-0 victory away to Latvian side Riga FC on Thursday to secure themselves a place in the Europa League play-off round, however, despite their win, plenty of Hoops supporters took to Twitter to share criticism for Greg Taylor and his performance in the game.
Prior to this game, Taylor, who is currently the only natural left-back in Celtic’s senior squad, as per Transfermarkt, addressed reports that the Hoops are in the market for a new left-back by stating that this is ‘not a problem’ for him, with the 22-year-old Scotland international going on to suggest that he is capable of dealing with the pressure that would come with a new signing arriving at Parkhead to compete for his position in the starting XI.
However, while the player seems to have a lot of belief in himself, it seems as though plenty of Celtic fans are not convinced by Taylor and would like to see their club sign a player to take his place in the team sooner rather than later, judging by the reactions of some Hoops supporters to the £720k-rated player’s performance against Riga.
Managed to see the game except for the last 15 min when my stream crashed. No harm to him but Greg Taylor not good enough to be our first choice. Back up only.

I’m starting to think Greg Taylor has some dirt on Lenny Frimpong offers more on the right in 5 minutes than he does in 90 on the left why hasn’t this been sorted ?

Someone untie Greg Taylor’s shoelaces, the poor lad is awful unfortunately

Frimpong should be starting every week & we need to find a solution to not playing Greg Taylor.
Outstanding from Bitton tonight btw

Greg Taylor faces our own goals more than the opposition’s goals. Never commits a defender

Criminal that Greg Taylor can get into the starting 11 never mind our squad. Absolutely useless, LB is a must

Some Hoops fans questioned why Taylor remained on the pitch for the entirety of this contest, while another Celtic supporter shared that they would like to see the 22-year-old sold by their club, despite their lack of depth at left-back at present.
Scott Brown and Greg Taylor playing a full 90 minutes tonight was absolutely criminal.

How Greg Taylor lasted 90mins tonight is beyond me…

Is Taylor good enough for Celtic?
YES
NO
As can be seen in these Hoops fans’ tweets, Taylor’s performance in this Europa League qualifier doesn’t appear to have won him many fans.
With that in mind, hopefully, for these Hoops fans, the club can sign a player in this position before the current transfer window closes in less than two weeks.
