Many Celtic fans have been discussing the latest transfer update involving Scott Robertson that recently emerged on Twitter.
The Celtic Twitter account recently quote-tweeted a post from the Gillingham Twitter account, which had confirmed that Robertson has now joined them on a season-long loan deal.
Can Robertson replicate Callum McGregor?
Yes
No
The Celtic Twitter account shared this, wishing the young midfielder good luck and confirming the news themselves.
This transfer update caught the attention of a lot of Celtic fans, who made their opinions very clear about this deal. They seemed pretty positive about Robertson’s loan move to Gillingham.

Smart move. Worked wonders for McGregor, hopefully applies the same.

Robertson is only 19 currently and has played for the club’s reserve team in the Challenge Cup in the last two seasons. Last season, he made his debut for the Celtic first team as well as he played the full 90 minutes in the club’s UEFA Europa League game against Cluj (as per Transfermarkt).
Some other Celtic fans were also talking about this announcement and they aired their thoughts clearly.
Good move for the lad ?? https://t.co/AcTCwcFyUP

Hope this does wonders for the boy the same way loans out helped the likes of Ajer, Christie and Mcgregor https://t.co/E0wPNq04NI

This could be a brilliant move. Gillingham play some nice football. https://t.co/c28HbAGU3Y

Some of these Celtic fans are comparing Robertson to the club’s midfielder Callum McGregor, who had also spent a loan stint at Notts County before he became a first-team regular at Parkhead.
Not just McGregor, but other Celtic first-team regulars like Ryan Christie and Kristoffer Ajer had also spent loan stints away from Parkhead. Both Ajer and Christie are now regulars for Neil Lennon’s side.
Those are the sort examples that Robertson can use as his inspiration. The fact that he’s already played for the first-team might be a sign of the fact that Lennon trusts him. So the key thing for him should be to impress at Gillingham and come back as a better player.
