Many Celtic fans have been discussing the latest news update involving Kristoffer Ajer that recently emerged on social media.

While Ajer has been linked with a move to Milan, Rossoneri sporting director Paolo Maldini was asked if the club is working on deals for the Norwegian and Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, who has also been linked with a move to the San Siro.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

In response to this question, Maldini told Sky Italia: “Milenkovic and Ajer could be among the names evaluated, but they are not the only ones and they are not the ones on whom we are working.”

This update involving Celtic’s defender was relayed on Twitter by CelticBible recently. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they made their opinion clear about this update.

Do you think Ajer is set to stay at Celtic?

Sky Italia reported last week that Milan are expected to make contact with Ajer’s agents this week and Celtic currently value him at €15 million (£13.7 million). The report also said that the Rossoneri might look to sign the Norwegian on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy him permanently (as per Sky Italia).

Some other Celtic fans also talked about the latest update involving the defender.

These Celtic fans clearly have different feelings about the update involving the defender. While Maldini does say that Milan aren’t working on a deal for Ajer, he hints at the fact that he’s one of the central defenders that they are looking at. So there clearly is interest in the 22-year-old.

Celtic currently have four out-and-out centre-back options in the squad and they’ve played in a back three in recent games. Because of that, they might need extra depth in the centre-back position and losing Ajer would leave them with lesser depth in that part of the pitch. So Celtic should do their best to keep hold of the Norwegian this summer.
