Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Connell said that the talent and ability of the players on the bench at Celtic is high and it is going to be ‘hard’ to break into the team. The youngster is hoping that the chance comes and whenever the opportunity does arrive, it will be up to him to grab it.

This quote from Connell was relayed on Twitter and caught the attention of a lot of Celtic fans, who made their opinions clear about the Bhoys youngster.

Does Luca Connell deserve a chance in the Celtic first-team?

Connell had joined Celtic from the Bolton Under-18 side in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £369k. The 19-year-old is a defensive midfielder by trade, but he can also play at left-back and is versatile enough to play in the left-midfield position as well. He is contracted to Celtic until the summer of 2023 (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans also commented on the 19-year-old player’s words.

It appears that these Celtic fans really want to see Connell get some game time for the club’s first team.

Connell is yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Bhoys, but he made a couple of appearances for the reserves in the Challenge Cup last season. In the 2018/19 campaign, he managed to make 10 appearances for Bolton in the Championship, as well as two games for them in the FA Cup (as per Transfermarkt).

The fact that Connell has senior experience from his time at Bolton might be a sign he has the potential to do the same at Celtic in the future. He can play in multiple positions on the pitch and because of that, he’ll add some depth to the club’s first team in various areas. So it will be interesting to see if Neil Lennon trusts the 19-year-old or not.
