On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown, John Wenham and Daniel Merriman have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and looking ahead to Spurs’ opening Premier League game against Everton on Sunday.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled ‘Everton – The Big Preview‘, was Serge Aurier and the transfer rumours currently surrounding the former PSG man. The likes of AC Milan and AS Monaco have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old this summer, and with Spurs having signed fellow right-back Matt Doherty from Wolves earlier in the window, he perhaps looks unlikely to retain his starting spot.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Sacks had to say about the Ivory Coast international on the podcast:

“It must be said on Aurier, and it does appear that he will start the season out of the team, following the summer addition of Matt Doherty, who we all agree will be in that Spurs team come this Sunday – but it’s worth saying that Aurier had been a regular under Mourinho since he replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the helm.

“The ex-PSG man has been linked with a move to AC Milan prior to this summer transfer window. As we understand it, there is interest as well from Bayer Leverkusen. This one may well very much go down until the end of the window. I think from what we can gauge, it does appear Daniel Levy is absolutely adamant that he will not allow a penny less than what he actually bought Aurier for, to go out the door.”

TIF Thoughts…

Those on the podcast seem to think that Aurier’s time at Spurs is coming to an end, although they suggest that they may only see him leave should Levy be able to recoup the £22.5 million they paid for him from PSG in August 2017.

Do you think Aurier will leave Spurs?

No

With reports suggesting that AC Milan are currently unwilling to match that valuation, perhaps we won’t see the Ivorian leave the north London club this summer and he may just stay on as a backup to Doherty after all.
