Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a reported update on Serge Aurier, which suggests that AC Milan remain in negotiations for the right-back.

According to French news outlet RMC Sport (via Hotspur Related), the Italian giants are still in negotiations with Spurs for the former Paris Saint-Germain man. It has been previously suggested that the Rossoneri were somewhat short in their valuation of the Ivorian, with Daniel Levy seemingly hoping to recoup close to the £22.5 million that the Lilywhites paid for the defender in 2017 (per Evening Standard).

Aurier now looks to be the second choice right-back at Spurs, following the North London club’s signing of Matt Doherty earlier in the transfer window, although he did make his first appearance of the season in Spurs’ 3-1 win against KF Shkendija on Thursday evening and impressed, earning a solid 6.99/10 rating for his display, which may be enough to convince Jose Mourinho to keep him around to challenge Doherty for the starting right-back spot, or at least to provide cover for the Irishman.

Some Spurs fans made references to Danny Rose in their tweets, perhaps due to the Englishman’s desire to join AC Milan back in January, which can be seen in the ‘All or Nothing’ documentary.

Overall, it seems as if a lot of Spurs fans are keen to get this deal over the line, as they seem to feel that the club no longer requires Aurier’s services.
