Michael Bridge from Sky Sports has been speaking on the latest edition of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, and he has been talking about all things relating to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

One of the topics that he talked about was Spurs’ interest in Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst.

It seems as if Weghorst ticks the requirements that Mourinho is looking for in a striker and that Spurs are interested in signing the Dutchman.

He said: “There’s definitely interest in him. Spurs have looked at least 10 strikers over the last few weeks, they’ve been very calm.

“I’ve heard that there is interest there, that is one that they are looking at, they’ve been offered a few as well.

“[Jose] Mourinho is looking for someone who is quite imposing, quite big, and he seems to be ticking the boxes.

“I don’t know too much more other than that at the moment, but that is one I think that is interesting.”

Would you be happy if Spurs signed Weghorst?

Yes, clearly a good striker

TIF Thoughts…

Weghorst stands at just over 6ft 5in and scored 16 goals in the Bundesliga last season, so you can see why Mourinho wants him.

The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a move to north London, and he is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt.

It is unclear how much Tottenham are willing to pay for him, but it does appear as if their interest in the striker is genuine.

You could argue that he would be a welcome addition considering the number of goals he scored in the league last season would have made him Spurs’ second-top goalscorer, and his average rating of 7.06 would have been good enough to put him in joint-third place in Spurs’ squad.

So, this could be one to keep an eye on over the next few days and weeks.
