Joseph Masi and Luke Hatfield spent some time discussing West Bromwich Albion centre-back Ahmed Hegazi on the latest edition of the Express and Star’s Baggies Broadcast podcast.

Hegazi is yet to feature for West Brom in the 2020/21 campaign and earlier this year, there was some speculation over the 29-year-old centre-back’s future, as he was linked with a move back to his former club Al Ahly, though Hegazi did indicate that ‘he still has a commitment to his current employers’ when addressing those links with a move away from the club.

During this recent edition of the Baggies Broadcast podcast, Hatfield brought up the possibility that Hegazi will be sold by West Brom in the current transfer window, saying that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Hegazi left The Hawthorns in the current transfer window

Masi then replied to his co-host by saying: “From what I’m told, Hegazi wants to stay. He’s very happy at Albion and will not be leaving, but [it is] not necessarily his decision.”

TIF Thoughts…

Hegazi made just 16 league appearances for West Brom last season, which is a lower number of appearances than 17 other Baggies players made during the 2019/20 Championship campaign and with that in mind, as well as the fact he is yet to feature for the club this season, we feel that it doesn’t look particularly likely that the Egyptian is seen as being a key part of Slaven Bilic’s squad.

As a result of this, while the £3.15m-rated man may be happy at the Hawthorns, we feel that a transfer might be good for him if he wants to avoid experiencing a lack of game time this season.
