James Restall has been speaking on the latest episode of The Times’ The Game Football Podcast and he has been talking about Harry Kane.

1. Spurs signed Alfie Devine from which League One club?

Restall, deputy sports editor at The Times, spoke at great length about Tottenham Hotspur’s poor start to the season as they were beaten 1-0 by Everton and had just nine shots on goal.

This led to Restall discussing Kane and why he should be angry with what is going on at Spurs.

It seems as if Restall believes that Kane needs Spurs’ players to create more chances for him, but on Sunday, that didn’t happen, and if he were Kane, he would be getting annoyed.

He said: “If I was Harry Kane, I’d be furious about [Sunday].

“I think he had two touches in the opposition box.

“No one was creating anything for him, he’s probably thinking, ‘do I have to create all this myself? Do I have to create these chances myself?’

“He’s not the same player as three/four years ago when he would conjure a shot out of nothing and score, which he was doing on quite a frequent level.

“Now, I think he needs players to create more things for him and get him in good positions, and it’s just not happening.”

Do you think Kane needs more support?

Yes, he had nothing to feed off

TIF Thoughts…

Kane managed just two shots against Everton and earned a pretty poor rating of just 6.49.

That was the fifth-highest in Tottenham’s squad, but as can be seen by the fact that Spurs took only nine shots, Kane was given nothing to feed off, and it is no surprise to see Restall suggesting that Kane might be frustrated.

The 27-year-old has scored 14 goals in just 20 games under Jose Mourinho, so, when given the chances, he will score goals, but Spurs need to give the England striker more to feed off or it could be a frustrating season for him and Tottenham.
