In the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on the 1-0 loss against Everton last weekend, and shedding some light on the latest transfer rumours surrounding the club.

One topic of discussion on his recent video was reported Spurs transfer target Habib Diallo. The FC Metz striker has been linked with a move to the north London club in recent weeks, as Jose Mourinho looks to add another striker to his squad, potentially as backup to Harry Kane. Last season in Ligue 1, the 25-year-old contributed 12 goals and three assists in 26 top-flight appearances, averaging a solid 6.97/10 rating (per WhoScored).

1. Spurs signed Alfie Devine from which League One club?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the Senegalese striker during his video:

“Habib Diallo, the Metz striker, 25 years old, captain of Metz for most of their games last season. [He scored] 12 goals in a struggling Metz side, he scored 26 the season before to get them into Ligue 1. He’s one that Spurs certainly are looking at. I think he’d be at the lower end of the price scale, maybe looking at £15-£18 million. Quite a big guy, think he’s 6 ft 1, so he can win balls in the air, so he fits that mould as well. So maybe keep an eye on him.”

TIF Thoughts…

As Gold explains, Diallo impressed in a Metz side that really struggled last season, with Les Grenats finishing 15th in Ligue 1, managing just 27 goals in 28 games (per Sky Sports). Considering that the 25-year-old scored 12 of these goals, you could certainly make the point that he was hugely important in their survival and that perhaps he would bring plenty of goals if he was surrounded with better players, as he would be if he joined Spurs, considering some of the attacking talent they have on offer.

With the Senegalese international currently valued at £10.8 million by Transfermarkt, he looks to be an affordable option, and from what Gold suggests, he is could therefore be one for Spurs fans to keep an eye on.
