Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to a Twitter post from @NUFC360 which relayed some quotes allegedly from Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine, during an interview with Marca, revealed that the only clubs who have contacted him regarding positions since he left Spurs have been Monaco and Benfica. This suggests that reports linking him with a move to St. James’ Park when it was thought the Saudi-backed takeover would go through may have been false.
Pochettino was one of a number of high-profile coaches said to have been on the would-be owners’ shortlist but it appears no conversation ever took place.
Here is how a sample of the Magpies faithful have responded to the post on social media.
He’s won the same number of trophies as our current manager. Not bothered.

Surely it can’t be journalists making stories up again. pic.twitter.com/uI0JB6L9FK

Would you have liked to see Pochettino come in at Newcastle?
Yes
No
It’s clear that not all of these supporters were convinced the reports were accurate in the first place with one fan claiming he was ‘not bothered’ – suggesting he wasn’t keen on the former Spurs boss taking the reins in the North East. More fans continued to make their feelings known in response to this post.

Following the collapse of the proposed takeover, it appears that for the time being, Steve Bruce’s job is safe but given that the club has begun a legal battle with the Premier League we cannot completely rule out a deal being resurrected.
