LFC Daytrippers contributor Grizz Khan has been discussing the future of Xherdan Shaqiri during a recent edition of the podcast.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Liverpool throughout this transfer window but for the time being, at least, he remains with the club.

According to Transfermarkt, the Swiss international winger is valued at £14.4m and according to Khan, the reason he has not moved on yet is that no interested party has met his valuation.

Shaqiri didn’t make the squad for Liverpool’s recent Premier League victory over Arsenal at Anfield on Monday night (as per BBC Sport), suggesting that even though he is still with the Merseyside giants, he doesn’t seem to be a part of Jurgen Klopp’s current plans.

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

Here is what he had to say:

“[Xherdan] Shaqiri won’t be kept unless we [continue to recieve] stupid bids that we’re [currently] getting for him, like £7-10m at the moment.

“Once we get that sort of above £15m, close to £20m [offer], he’ll be gone.”

TIF Thoughts…

Shaqiri was signed from Stoke City back in July 2018 in a deal reportedly worth £13.23m (as per Transfermarkt) having previously represented Bayern Munich and Inter.

To date, he has made 42 appearances for the Reds, in which he has contributed eight goals and provided five assists.

Do you expect Shaqiri to still be a Liverpool player when the window closes?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Judging by what Khan had to say, we can assume the club’s preference would be to sell the player before the window closes but they’re not willing to let him go for below his market value.
