Phil Hay has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show about all things relating to Leeds United.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

One of the topics that he spent a lot of time on was transfers, particularly the Whites’ interest in Daniel James from Manchester United.

It seems as if the Whites are keen on the 22-year-old winger and would have space within the squad to sign him on loan, but they would also be happy to sign him permanently if the Red Devils were open to selling him.

Hay said: “If it came around that Manchester United were willing to [do a] loan with an obligation to buy, or just to sell outright, then I am pretty certain that Leeds would try to do that.

“They do have a loan slot left – they’ve done Jack Harrison from Manchester City, but you’re allowed two domestically in the Premier League, so there would be space for that if that was the way it was to happen.”

Do you think Leeds will sign James?

TIF Thoughts…

James nearly joined Leeds in January 2019, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute as Swansea City pulled the plug.

The Welsh international then moved to Old Trafford the following summer, where he has made 47 appearances, scored four goals and provided seven assists since, and it appears that Leeds are keen to try and sign the £17.1m-rated winger.

However, it has been claimed that James does not expect to leave – either on loan or permanently – in this transfer window.

Despite this, James’ future could be something to keep an eye on as if he becomes available, it looks like the Whites will make their move.
