A lot of Leeds United fans have flocked to Twitter to slam Kiko Casilla for his performance in the Yorkshire-based club’s League Cup loss to Hull City on Wednesday night.

This game finished 1-1 in regular time and Leeds went on to lose the penalty shoot-out 9-8.

Casilla played the entirety of the game, making six saves, as the Tigers hit the target with seven of their 18 shots at goal in regular time, as per WhoScored.

The Spanish goalkeeper also played the joint-highest number of accurate long balls (six) of any Leeds United player during this League Cup tie.

However, Casilla’s performance in this game drew criticism from some of the club’s supporters, who aired their displeasure with the goalkeeper’s performance versus Hull City on Twitter.

Some Leeds United fans called for the ex-Real Madrid man to be sold.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

Meanwhile, some other Leeds United supporters took to Twitter to share that they believe the 33-year-old is a ‘liability’.

Did Casilla play badly versus Hull City?

So, judging by these Leeds fans’ tweets, plenty of the Yorkshire-based club’s fans were not impressed by the former Spain international’s performance in this game.

Casilla was arguably culpable for the opening goal of the game, with his errant pass leading to Hull’s opener which deflected past him.

Though considering that he saved six of Hull’s seven shots on target, pulled off one save in the penalty shoot-out and even converted his own spot-kick, we feel that Casilla may not have played as poorly as some Leeds fans seemingly believe he did in this fixture.

However, the £1.8m-rated Spaniard clearly isn’t a popular man amongst Leeds supporters, which is understandable when you consider that he was suspended last season for racially abusing Jonathan Leko, and as a result, we feel it’s not too surprising that his performance in this game has come under scrutiny from Leeds fans, some of whom may not be happy about seeing him playing for their side at all.
