Joe Urquhart has been on the latest episode of the Inside Elland Road podcast, and he has been talking about all things relating to Leeds United.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

One of the topics that came up while Urquhart and Graham Smyth were talking about the Whites was the tweet from Rodrigo de Paul where he hinted about his willingness to move to Elland Road.

The Square Ball put out a tweet claiming that the 26-year-old wanted to join Leeds, and he replied, ‘Yes’ with a fingers crossed emoji.

This post was swiftly deleted, but it led to Urquhart to provide his view on the situation.

It seems as if in Urquhart’s view, De Paul is now done at Udinese after the tweet, and he sounds quite unimpressed with the antics of the 26-year-old.

He said: “It would be interesting to see and hear Udinese – firstly, the football club’s thoughts on [De Paul’s tweet], and then obviously supporters, because he’s basically saying that he’s done with the football club, he’s not going to be there.

“So, whether it’s Leeds United or somewhere else, you don’t imagine, unless it’s a very, very awkward grovelling conversation that he has to have after the transfer window shuts and a move doesn’t materialise, that he’ll still be there because that’s sort of a point of no return, for me.

“It was completely unprompted. It wasn’t like he was caught off-guard in an interview – he was just sat scrolling [through] Twitter and responded and knew full well what he was doing.”

Do you think this was a wise thing for De Paul to do?

No, very stupid

TIF Thoughts…

De Paul’s tweet was swiftly deleted, but it seems to suggest that he does want to move to Elland Road. However, as things stand, a fee has not been agreed with Udinese. So, unless something changes there, it is hard to see how Leeds will sign De Paul.

Smyth also makes the point later in the show that could this action from De Paul indicate he might not fit in with the Leeds dressing room because they don’t do anything foolish on social media?

It is an interesting point, and though the Argentine deleted the post, you could argue it was an unwise thing to do, but it does look like he wants to join Leeds. Now it is up to the Whites to agree a fee for De Paul, and then he could sign before the end of the transfer window.
