Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest reports linking the club with a move for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.

It has recently been reported by The Scottish Sun that the Hoops have now ‘stepped up their scouting’ of Turnbull. The same report claims that there is a ‘growing likelihood’ that the Bhoys will make an attempt to sign the Motherwell man before the summer transfer window slams shut in October.

The Hoops were close to signing the midfielder in the summer of 2019 and a fee was agreed with Motherwell. The move fell through after Turnbull failed his medical, which revealed that he required ‘immediate preventative knee surgery’.

The latest reports have caught the attention of many Celtic fans. They made their opinions clear about whether the Hoops should sign Turnbull this summer or not. Some of them believe that signing the Scotsman would be a good idea.

Turnbull had missed as many as 35 games due to the knee issue, but the 21-year-old did return to first-team action at the end of the 2019/20 season. He played two games in the campaign and made appearances from the bench against St. Mirren and Hearts (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans also talked about the possibility of signing Turnbull this summer.

These Celtic fans link Turnbull’s potential arrival to the potential exit of Olivier Ntcham. One fan also links his arrival to the future of Ryan Christie.

Turnbull was really impressive in the 2018/19 season for the Motherwell first-team. He made 31 appearances in all competitions in that campaign and he directly contributed to 21 goals for them (as per Transfermarkt).

This shows that Turnbull indeed was a capable player before the knee injury came about and if he starts to perform at the same level that he was at in the 2018/19 season, signing him would be a good idea for the Hoops.
