Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update involving Ivan Saponjic that recently emerged on social media.
Sky Sports Scotland recently posted a tweet which mentioned Saponjic, saying that the Hoops ‘would consider a move’ for the Atletico Madrid man if they lose a striker this summer. The tweet also said that the Bhoys ‘will fight’ to keep Odsonne Edouard at Parkhead.
The tweet included a link to an article about this information and it said that Saponjic is someone that Celtic ‘like’. The article also claimed that the Serbian forward ‘is open’ to moving to the United Kingdom this summer and he is currently ‘frustrated by a lack of opportunities’ at his current club.
The tweet about this news caught the attention of a lot of Celtic fans, who made their feelings very clear. They seemed pretty negative about this update.
Eddy will definitely go but I’m not sure I trust our back room team to spend money well.

Saponjic joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica B in the summer of 2019. The 23-year-old made only three appearances for Atletico’s first-team in the 2019/20 campaign.
Some other Celtic fans talked about the news linking Saponjic with a move to Parkhead.
And so it begins, Lawell already has him punted. https://t.co/yykAjCs80t

It’s clear that plenty of Celtic fans believe that the club’s interest in Saponjic is a sign that Edouard will leave this summer, with the Serbian potentially replacing the French striker.
During his time with Benfica B, Saponjic made 68 appearances in all competitions and scored only 14 goals and racked up just a couple of assists. That isn’t quite a promising record and it could be a sign that Saponjic might not be someone who is good enough to replace Edouard, who boasts a much better goalscoring record.
