Speaking recently on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Hugh MacDonald discussed Jamie O’Hara’s claim that the Bournemouth job is a bigger one than Rangers.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Tottenham player and current Billericay Town manager O’Hara said that while “Rangers are a huge football club,” the Bournemouth manager’s position “is a bigger job” due to the fact that there are “only two teams in Scotland” and that the appeal of the Cherries job is the potential “to get them back into the Premier League”.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Rangers top goalscorers quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who is Rangers' current top Scottish Premiership goalscorer this season?

In response to these comments, MacDonald stated on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show that O’Hara’s remarks were said purely to get attention, however, he did go on to say that, in England, there is not much attention given to the Scottish Premiership.

He said: “On Jamie O’Hara, the whole basis of TalkSPORT is based on clickbait. To be fair to him, he didn’t say that Bournemouth was a bigger club than Rangers, he said Bournemouth was a bigger job than Rangers.

“I think, in England, the whole thing now is about – and always has been for many years – the [Premier League] and really, they don’t tend to look much at the other big four leagues, never mind anything north of the border.”

TIF Thoughts…

O’Hara’s comments were somewhat surprising, as Rangers are still currently in the last 16 of the Europa League, with their second leg tie against Bayer Leverkusen coming up on Thursday and they also finished second in the Scottish Premiership last season, while Bournemouth suffered relegation to the Championship last term.

However, it would seem from MacDonald’s comments that he believes that O’Hara’s claims were simply made in order to get attention.
