Speaking recently on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Alan Rough stated that he ‘can’t believe’ Rangers would let their star striker, Alfredo Morelos, agree a deal with another club before a fee has been agreed with Rangers.

Morelos has been one of Rangers’ star players over the past few seasons, scoring a remarkable 77 goals and providing 30 assists over his 138 appearances for the club.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Rangers top goalscorers quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who is Rangers' current top Scottish Premiership goalscorer this season?

Last season, the 24-year-old once again shone for Gers, scoring 29 goals and providing 10 assists over his 46 appearances in all competitions – with the second leg of Rangers’ Europa League round of 16 fixture against Bayer 04 Leverkusen still to be played.

As a result of these fine performances, there have been rumours of interest in Morelos this summer, most prominently from French side Lille, who it has been reported that the striker has agreed to join.

However, as yet, there has been no deal struck between Rangers and Lille regarding a fee for the forward, leaving Rough to question whether the reports are true.

He said: “Surely he’s not negotiated a deal to go to this club without Rangers agreeing a fee? I read it again this morning that he’s done the deal with them himself, he’s got his wages sorted out and whatever he’s going to do. I can’t believe Rangers as a club would allow a player to go and negotiate a deal when nothing’s been done [between the two clubs].”

TIF Thoughts…

While it does indeed seem a little backward for a player to agree on personal terms with a club, while their current side have so far not agreed to sell him, that is indeed what the reports by Sky Sports claimed last week.

However, whether or not Rangers will actually accept a bid from the French club, only time will tell.
