Supporters of Newcastle United have been reacting to a transfer report which has emerged regarding Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose.
According to a report published by Chronicle Live, which carried quotes made by the player on the Second Captains podcast, Rose would be “very happy” to stay with Spurs.
The defender goes as far as to say that he would “love” to stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and run down the remainder of his contract.
Furthermore, Rose said: “I would want nothing more than to play in front of the Tottenham fans one more time and to cherish all the moments I’ve had over the years with them.”
This report was then relayed to social media by Chronicle Live and their tweet suggested that the comments were a ‘potential transfer blow‘ for the Toon.
Lots of supporters then responded to the Twitter post.

Wouldn’t call it a blow more of a lucky escape … go and get jethro back…

A major let off more like. Very lazy player. If this is the calibre of player we are after then next season in the Premier will be the last. ??

Bit snakey as he said a few weeks ago he wanted stay on after his loan. Jetro was better anyway

Rose spent the second half of the Premier League season situated at St. James’ Park having arrived on loan from Spurs in January (per BBC).
Would you want Danny Rose to sign for Newcastle United permanently?
No, he's not good enough
Yes, he's a decent player
Oh no! This is a huge blow that Rose doesn’t want to amble around the pitch for us passing the ball sideways setting up attacks for the opposition. Would love to have Jetro back, he wanted to be here.

Result , bye bye.

Following his arrival at the club, Rose made 11 Premier League appearances for Steve Bruce’s outfit in which he neither scored nor assisted (per WhoScored).
Aside from providing neither a goal nor an assist, the left-back delivered a weak 6.47/10 average rating which made him the tenth-worst performer to feature for Newcastle in the league.
A transfer blow really? I don’t think so
— Gareth (@toonfootsoldier) August 3, 2020
Not really a blow. He’s no better than what we’ve got
— Martin Johnson (@MartinJohnson10) August 3, 2020
As can be seen in these responses from Newcastle supporters, they clearly did not believe the admission from Rose to be any kind of transfer blow for the Toon.
