Journalist Alison McConnell has recently made a claim about Boli Bolingoli’s future at Celtic Park.

McConnell was a guest on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed many issues surrounding Scottish football. Bolingoli was one issue for debate and McConnell gave her opinion about the situation of the Celtic left-back.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Bolingoli recently broke quarantine rules after he had taken a secret trip to Spain. Neil Lennon criticised his actions, describing them as ‘selfish’ and a ‘total betrayal of trust’.

McConnell believes that Bolingoli’s time at Celtic might already be up. The journalist believes that Lennon has already hinted at that with his words about the Belgian, who is currently valued at £2.52m.

She said: “I don’t expect him to play for Celtic again. I fully expect that he will go out somewhere, whether that is a loan deal or whether he goes out in a sale, but I think it will be very, very difficult to envisage him in a Celtic shirt again.

Is there any chance of Bolingoli staying at Celtic?

“I think Neil Lennon touched on it last week when it came out that there was an anger within the dressing room, too about the behaviour and the irresponsibility of it. I think it is very hard to come back from that, I really do. The big issue here is the pressure that he brought on to the club and onto the team in a campaign where you are really not going to have to look very far for any pressure and tension.

“To give Rangers the impetus and what was last week, the potential to go on and move 11 points clear – we know yesterday they dropped points – but to put your teammates and to put your club in that situation, I think it is almost impossible to come back from it.”

TIF Thoughts…

More recently, Lennon has said that ‘no conclusion’ has been reached when it comes to Bolingoli’s situation and revealed that he is ‘not aware’ of any interest in the Belgian (as per BBC Sport).

French side Amiens have been linked with a move for Bolingoli, according to Sky Sports News. They were reported to have made a loan bid for the defender which includes an option to buy him permanently at the end of the current campaign.

The same report also claimed that the Hoops are ‘targeting replacements’ for Bolingoli already. It shows that his future at Parkhead may well be sealed and the fact that Celtic are looking at replacements could be a sign of how they might be happy to let him leave.
