A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed takeover news from journalist Oscar Paul.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

He has claimed that the Bellagraph Nova (BN) Group wants Alan Shearer to be involved should their bid to take over Newcastle be successful.

Shearer has accepted this proposal at the club and has even been offered the manager’s position if this takeover happens.

The Shields Gazette first revealed the BN Group’s interest, which is fronted by Michael Chopra.

Reports claim that all of the required paperwork so far has been lodged with Mike Ashley’s lawyers, including proof of funds.

However, it was then claimed that this deal fell at an early hurdle as the two parties could not agree a fee, and that Ashley still sees Amanda Staveley’s consortium as the only serious bidder to potentially buy the club.

Certainly, these Toon fans are baffled by this latest claim.

Do you want Shearer back as manager?

No, didn't work last time

Shearer took charge of eight games in the 2008/09 season, and he could not save the Toon from relegation as they won just one league game under him, while he recently suggested that he doesn’t fancy getting back into management.

So, if this BN Group bid comes off, then it might be a surprise if he decides to take up the offer as manager.

This post continued to draw the attention of Toon fans, who think this is all nonsense.

Over the last two weeks, Chopra has put out two cryptic tweets hinting that a takeover of the Toon was still on; one claimed that Newcastle fans should ‘get the cans from the bin’ and the other simply said ‘Excited‘, with a few black and white circles.

It seems that these posts could have been referencing the bid he is a part of rather than the Staveley one.

It is unclear what will happen with this latest bid, but considering negotiations have already hit a stumbling block, we recommend that Toon fans don’t get too excited about it just yet.
