Hammers insider @ExWHUemployee has provided an update on West Ham United’s English striker Jordan Hugill.

West Ham secured the services of the forward during the January transfer window in 2018 when they paid Preston North End £9.18m to sign him (per Transfermarkt).

Since his arrival at the club, the 28-year-old Englishman has made just three appearances for the Irons in which he has neither scored nor assisted (per Transfermarkt).

During the 2019/20 term, Hugill spent the season on loan with Queens Park Rangers and he bagged 15 goals and one assist in 41 appearances.

In the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee provided an update on the future of the frontman.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

He said: “Jordan Hugill is obviously someone that we want to get rid of. [It was a] ridiculous signing, really, when you look back on it.

“Norwich are interested in him, that is true. Norwich have limited options up front. [They’ve] obviously got [Teemu] Pukki, they have a German fella who didn’t do very well this year, they’ve got a youngster and they just need a forward.

“Hugill’s wages are going to be too much for them and they can only afford about £2m for him.

“So, what we’re hoping to do is use Hugill as a makeshift with [Eberechi] Eze, again, as I’ve reported on previous shows.”

TIF Thoughts…

Seemingly, the in-the-know pundit believes that the interest from Norwich in signing the English striker is true, however, they will struggle to afford him.

Do you think West Ham will be able to get rid of Jordan Hugill this summer?

No, no one will have him

No, no one will have him

Yes, I think he'll go

The pundit also believes that it is more likely the club will use Hugill in a deal to attempt to sign Eze from QPR, who the Irons have been linked with (per Football.london).

Either way, with Hugill having picked up an uninspiring 6.66/10 average rating in the Championship during the most recent season (per WhoScored), perhaps it is clear to see why West Ham are looking to ship him out.
