On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown and Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on some of the transfer deals that could potentially happen during the summer window.

One topic of discussion on the recent podcast, which was titled ‘Summer Transfer Window (Ft. Lyall Thomas)‘, was reported Spurs transfer target Kim Min-jae.

The North London club were linked with a move for the South Korean earlier in the window, but rumours appeared to have died down somewhat, after it was suggested that Beijing Guoan were holding out for £15 million (per Evening Standard).

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Thomas had to say about the latest regarding Min-jae on the podcast, when asked if he thought if it was a deal likely to happen:

“I don’t think so now. He arrived late back from South Korea so [when he] went back into China ahead of their new season, or ahead of their return to training, I don’t think it went down very well. So any hope of a move out of there at that point, I think was ended pretty abruptly and they wanted him to stay and wanted him to play, so I think that one’s gone away.

“I think also the fact that that whole thing happened, and how strongly they want him to stay, means that the fee would be probably bigger than he’s actually worth. So I’d be surprised if Tottenham went back for that now, but let’s see, that is a position they will look at a bit further on in the window.”

TIF Thoughts…

From the sounds of things, Spurs won’t be signing the man nicknamed the ‘monster’ this summer. However, Thomas does suggest that centre-back is a position which Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen, which is perhaps unsurprising considering Jan Vertonghen has left the club, so perhaps we will see Spurs reignite their interest in the 23-year-old later in the window.

Are you disappointed that Spurs have seemingly ended their interest in Min-jae?

Considering the Lilywhites managed just eight clean sheets in the Premier League last season, you can certainly argue that they require defensive reinforcements, but from what Thomas says, it seems unlikely that they will be adding Min-jae to their ranks.
