This comes after McQueen recently made an appearance on The Last Word On Spurs Podcast to talk through a range of topics concerning Jose Mourinho’s side.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

After being asked who he would ideally want the north London club to sign this summer, McQueen picked Pereira as one player he’d like to see in a Spurs shirt next season.

He said: “I think we need to sign a big, big right-back and I think for me, that’s Ricardo from Leicester City. I think behind Trent Alexander-Arnold and [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka, Ricardo Pereira has absolutely been outstanding for Leicester City and I think we should go all out for him.

“I reckon we could go and get him for about £32-35 million. I think he’s got just less than two years left on his contract. He’s Portuguese, he’s Premier League-proven and he’s been brilliant for Leicester City and I think he’d be superb for Tottenham Hotspur as a right-back.”

Pereira signed to the Midlands club back in the 2018 summer transfer window for a fee of £19.8 million. Since then, the 26-year-old, who is currently valued at £28.8 million, has gone on to make a total of 70 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists (per Transfermarkt).

The full-back was Leicester’s best player throughout their 2019/20 Premier League season, having earned himself an average match rating of 7.5/10 for his performances in the league last year (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Looking at how impressive Pereira was for Leicester last season, it comes as no surprise that McQueen thinks that Spurs should prioritise a move for the defender this summer.

With Spurs having sold Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton recently, the north London club could be looking to bring in a replacement right-back to take Walker-Peters’ place in the squad.
