On the latest episode of the View from The Lane podcast for The Athletic, Jack Pitt-Brooke, James Maw and Charlie Eccleshare have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on some of the transfer deals that have occurred so far this summer.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled ‘The Curious Signing of Joe Hart’, was the goalkeeper himself. It was announced earlier this week that the 33-year-old former Manchester City man had joined Jose Mourinho’s side on a two-year deal, to provide competition for Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Eccleshare had to say about the signing of the former England international on the podcast:

“I could definitely see the logic in bringing him in, and reports from his time at Burnley say he was really, really good around the place, helped out with the younger ‘keepers as well, actually, obviously they looked up to him. I gather that [Harry] Kane and Dele [Alli] speak very highly of him, obviously, they know him from playing with England.

“And this idea of Spurs lacking big characters and lacking people who’ve won trophies, Hart is certainly a big character and he comes in with two Premier League titles to his name, so there’s definitely a logic to it.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Eccleshare says, Hart’s character played a big part in Spurs’ decision to sign him, and there seems to be a hope that he can have a big impact on the Spurs squad, as well as potentially helping out some of the younger keepers such as Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin.

Do you think Hart will be able to have a big impact on the Spurs squad?

The 33-year-old also comes with the recommendation of Kane and Dele Alli from the sounds of things, so hopefully, for Spurs fans, the former Burnley man will prove to be a really smart signing.
