Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that AC Milan have withdrawn their interest in Spurs right-back, Serge Aurier.

According to comments made by AC Milan’s director of football  Frederic Massara, it would seem that the Serie A side are no longer interested in the right-back, as they feel that they and Spurs are too far apart in their valuations of the player – with Tuttosport reporting earlier this month that Levy was after €23 million (£20.6 million) for the defender, while Milan were only prepared to pay €15-16 million (£13.4-14.3 million).

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Speaking in a press conference (via MilanNews24), Massara said: “He is an excellent Tottenham player but at the moment there are no conditions to be able to think about him. It is not a goal [to sign Aurier] under these conditions.”

After this news was relayed on Twitter by Last Word On Spurs, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their anger at Daniel Levy, whom they believe priced the potential buyer out of the move.

While we can understand why these Spurs fans are concerned about Levy overpricing the right-back, as the club’s asking price is quite a bit above the player’s current market value of £14.4 million, what is slightly less understandable is why these fans want to see the Ivory Coast international leave in the first place.

This is not only because he is currently the only senior right-back that Spurs have in their squad, but also because last season the 27-year old performed rather impressively.

Over his 33 appearances in the league last term, Aurier scored one goal and provided five assists, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.06 – ranking him as the club’s third-best performer in the Premier League, behind only Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

This could explain why, in contrast to the previous comments, these Tottenham fans appear glad to hear that the Italian club have pulled out of the deal.

So, all in all, it would appear that opinion is rather split amongst Spurs fans as to whether or not they are happy with the news that Milan are no longer in for their right-back.
