Lee Ryder has been speaking on the latest episode of the Everything is Black and White podcast, and he has been talking about all things relating to Newcastle United.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

One of the topics that he discussed was transfers both in and out for the Toon, and when asked about any of Newcastle’s big-name players leaving, Ryder provided an honest response.

It seems that Ryder would expect Mike Ashley to sell any of Newcastle’s players if a big offer comes in because history tells us that is what Ashley does.

He said: “I have to answer that question honestly, and under Mike Ashley, if he gets whiff of a huge transfer fee, then nine and a half times out of ten, he’s going to take it, there’s no doubt about it, because that’s what he’s done in the past.

“We’ve seen some huge outgoings: [Moussa] Sissoko, [Yohan] Cabaye, Andy Carroll back in the day. If Mike Ashley can pick up a big fee then he’ll take the money and reinvest some of it in the team and some of it seems to go back in the club.”

TIF Thoughts…

Currently, the Toon’s most valuable players, according to Transfermarkt, are Allan Saint-Maximin at £25.2m, Joelinton at £18m, and Sean Longstaff at £15.75m.

However, it seems that Ryder thinks that if Ashley were to receive a good offer for any Toon player, they would be gone, but these are the three who Transfermarkt rate as the Toon’s most valuable players.

So, if Ashley were to sell then it would be from these three that he might make the most money.

Any sales could boost Steve Bruce’s budget because it has been reported that he only has £35m plus player sales to spend this summer.

However, if someone as popular as Saint-Maximin were sold then, it might not go down too well with many Newcastle fans.

Despite this, though, we agree with Ryder because Ashley’s history suggests that he would sell any Toon player for a good offer.
