Many Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to a Twitter post from @NUFC360 in which they relay a report claiming that the Magpies have enquired about the possibility of bringing Andrea Belotti to the North East of England this summer.
The report, originally from Tuttosport (cited by The Boot Room) claims that along with the Magpies, Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton have also shown an interest in the 26-year-old.
Belotti signed for Torino from Palermo back in August 2015 in a deal reportedly worth £7.56m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Since his arrival, the centre-forward has scored an impressive 92 goals and provided 19 assists in 192 appearances for the Serie A club, with 22 strikes coming in the 2019/20 season.
Here is how some of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to being linked with the Italian international.
I honestly think some section of the press think the Takeover happened ?? Not in a million years could we pull that deal off under the current regime.

Hahaha I know you report on all stories relating to NUFC but this is laughable.

Does the Italian media know the takeover fell through?

Unless hes free, hes too expensive

Are you concerned Newcastle will fail to strengthen the squad this summer?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that these Newcastle fans find it outrageous they’re even being linked to a player of Belotti’s status, particularly after the proposed takeover of the club by the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium collapsed.
Not for sale at any price you say? How’s 3mil and a sports direct mug? No? 2 mugs?

? ? ? Nonsense

The report does state that the Torino president has made it clear that the player is not for sale at any price, but even if he was, these Toon fans appear to have zero faith in their club’s ability to attract somebody like Belotti.
