Supporters of Newcastle United have been reacting to footage of Jetro Willems which was posted to social media by the club.

On Friday morning, the Toon posted footage of an interview with the Dutch defender after he won the club’s award for the goal of the season (per Newcastle United).

In the footage shared by the Toon on Twitter, he thanked supporters for voting for his goal and he concluded by saying: “I hope I will be back soon on the pitch and thank you.”

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

The Toon sealed the arrival of the Dutchman last summer on a season-long loan from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt (per BBC).

However, Willems’ season at St. James’ Park was cut short after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in January and was absent for the remainder of the season (per Transfermarkt).

During his time with Newcastle, Willems earned a 6.84/10 average rating over 19 Premier League appearances which made him the fourth-best performer for the Toon during the 2019/20 term (per WhoScored).
