A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a Twitter post from The Chronicle that contains a link to an article on its website about Mike Ashley and Henry Mauriss.
The piece claims that Ashley has told Mauriss that he has a clear run at buying the Toon – but if he doesn’t come up with the money, he will walk away.
It is also claimed that Ashley is losing patience with the deal and wants to see Mauriss ‘put his money where his mouth is’, though the current Toon owner has been advised not to pull the plug just yet.
This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans, who are convinced Mauriss’ bid isn’t genuine.
Are you surprised Mike Ashley is frustrated by Mauriss?
No, because Mauriss has had time to sort it out
Yes, as Mauriss isn't a real bidder
He’s a myth…

Mauriss’ interest was first reported in April, before he apparently submitted a bid for the club in June, but since then, nothing has happened, and it seems like Ashley is losing patience.
Many Toon fans used this post to have a dig at Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards, who has previously claimed that Mauriss is a genuine bidder for the Toon.
If you listen very carefully, no matter where you are in the world, you can just about hear Luke Edwards soul dying.

It seems that Mauriss is now running out of time to do a deal, and it had been reported that he had until 14th August to sort out a deal with Ashley, so he might already be about to run out of time if that deadline was true.
However, even if Mauriss does sort out a deal, it looks as though Newcastle will still start the season with Ashley as the owner, which we doubt is something that Ashley or the fans probably wanted.
