In addition to this, the winger has also been pivotal in his side’s run to the Europa League final, providing an assist in Sevilla’s 2-0 victory over AS Roma in the round of 16, as well as scoring the only goal of the game to eliminate Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarter-final, averaging a 6.98 WhoScored match rating over his six appearances in the competition.

These fine performances appear to have caught the attention Everton, with David Ornstein revealing on the Ask Ornstein YouTube show that the Toffees are plotting a move for the £45 million-rated winger this summer.

He said: “Another position to watch is the wide area. Everton have been linked in the past with Lucas Ocampos. He’s an Argentine winger who plays for Sevilla, you would have seen him, he knocked Wolves out of the Europa League just recently, and also featured against Manchester United. That interest remains there.

“I’m very keen to see how that one develops, if at all, but there are certainly some moves behind the scenes to try and get Lucas Ocampos to Everton.”

Considering how exciting Ocampos has been both in La Liga and in the Europa League this season, if Everton do manage to get the signing of the 26-year-old over the line, as it would appear that Ornstein feels the club would very much like to do, he would certainly appear to be a great addition to their squad ahead of next season.

As Ornstein states, it will certainly be interesting to see how this story develops over the summer.
