McGarry claims that the Juventus man will be allowed to leave on a free after a disappointing first season with the Old Lady and that they will pay off some of his contract so that he can go.

The big news from this, though, is that Everton are thought to be interested in signing the Welsh international.

“It’s our understanding that with no transfer fee, Ramsey’s salary in the remaining years of a very lucrative contract [is] worth €150,000 net per week, [and] he will receive some compensation on that to make it easier for him to go, and there is interest from one Premier League club – who we understand to be Everton.

“Carlo Ancelotti is keen to sign an attacking midfielder who can also break up play, the old classic [Frank] Lampard role.

“However, that salary will definitely be a problem for Everton to match.”

So, it looks as if Ramsey, who is valued at £25.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), is on his way out of Juventus already, and the Toffees are keen on bringing him to Goodison Park.

Do you think Everton could sign Ramsey?

TIF Thoughts…

Since Ramsey moved to Turin, he has played 24 league games, scored three goals and provided one assist, earning an average match rating of just 6.63/10 (per WhoScored).

This would put him in 11th place in Everton’s squad, so it was not exactly a stellar season from the former Arsenal star.

However, in his time with the Gunners, Ramsey made 262 Premier League appearances, scoring 40 goals and providing 51 assists over that period.

So, if the Toffees could sort out a deal for Ramsey, they would be getting a player who has proven he can perform in the Premier League.

However, if McGarry is correct, then his wage could be a problem. Therefore, whether Ramsey remains a realistic transfer target for the Toffees is yet to become apparent.
