Speaking recently on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Alan Rough claimed that if Alfredo Morelos does not get a move away from Rangers this summer, then the club have ‘got a problem’.

Morelos arrived at Rangers from HJK Helsinki in a £1.08 million deal back in 2017, and has gone on to prove an incredible signing for the club, scoring 79 goals and providing 31 assists over his 140 appearances for the club.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Rangers top goalscorers quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who is Rangers' current top Scottish Premiership goalscorer this season?

Due to his impressive return of both goals and assists, there have been rumours this summer linking the Colombia international with a move away from Glasgow this summer, with it being reported that the 24-year-old had even agreed to join Ligue 1 side Lille.

However, with the French side now set to sign Jonathan David from Gent, it seems as if their interest in Morelos has cooled, with it being reported that the club are now unsure about the idea of signing another attacker.

As a result, Rough claimed that if Morelos does not get a move away from the club over the summer transfer window, then Rangers could find themselves in trouble.

He said: “As far as the Rangers striker is concerned, I think Steven Gerrard is putting on a brave face. Okay, he scored a couple of goals at the weekend, [but] his head has been turned and Steven Gerrard has come out and said that it has been – he can’t just change overnight because he scores two goals.

“I still think if this transfer falls flat on its face, he’s still got a problem. Because if he’s still there, this is a guy who has already admitted his head’s been turned and if he doesn’t get that move that he wants, I think you could have an ‘Exorcist’ moment where his head will completely spin off. Because he wants out of that club, he wants to go to a bigger club, and if he’s got to wait another year, Rangers have got a problem.”

TIF Thoughts…

As such, it would appear that Rough is suggesting that if Morelos does not get his move away from Ibrox this summer, then the 24-year-old could throw his toys out of the pram somewhat.

However, considering the fact that the £13.5 million-rated man has already scored two goals and provided two assists in his two fixtures with Rangers in the 2020/21 season so far, it would appear that the striker does not seem overly fazed by the uncertainty surrounding his future.
