Charles Watts, who reports on Arsenal for Goal, recently posted a Q&A video on his YouTube channel and during that video, the journalist spent some time talking about the possibility of Alexandre Lacazette departing from the Emirates Stadium.

Lacazette was Arsenal’s second-highest Premier League goalscorer for the 2019/20 campaign, scoring 10 goals in his 30 league appearances for the Gunners last term and the attacker also ended the 2019/20 season with a respectable overall rating of 6.92, making him Arsenal’s sixth-highest rated player in the league last season, according to WhoScored.

To kick off this 1990s Premier League quiz, which season was the Premier League's inaugural campaign?

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that he enjoyed a fairly positive 2019/20 campaign, however, reports have been linking the player with a move away from Arsenal recently, with Calciomercato claiming that the North London club are hoping to receive €30-35m (£26.95-31.44m) for the striker, who is said to have attracted interest from reigning Serie A champions Juventus.

Watts shared his thoughts on the 29-year-old’s future during this recent YouTube video.

He said: “He’s only got two years left on his contract, so you’ve got to think it’s either give him a new deal now or sell now – and that’s going to be resolved with talks between the player and the club.

“Juventus [have been] heavily linked with Lacazette from what I understand, speaking with people in Turin, he is on their list but it’s a very, very long list and he’s certainly not at the very, very top of that list.

“Whether anything happens with Juventus, we’ll have to wait and see, but he is a player who Arsenal – if a decent bid came in – I’m pretty sure they would be open to selling, but nothing’s happened yet with Lacazette and he’s happy in London, he gets on very, very well at Arsenal, obviously he’s very good friends with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

TIF Thoughts…

As Watts explained, 29-year-old Lacazette has currently got just under two years remaining on his current deal and if the decision-makers at the North London club don’t anticipate that they will want to keep the former Lyon forward at the Emirates beyond the end of his current contract, then it may be understandable why they might want to just cash in on him now and recoup as much money in the form of a transfer fee as they can for him, before his deal continues to wind down.
