Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update linking them with a move to sign goalkeeper David Marshall.
The Scottish Sun recently reported that Marshall could be ‘poised’ for a Parkhead return as he is currently ‘coming to terms’ with Wigan Athletic going into administration. The report claims that Neil Lennon initially did see him as an option to replace Craig Gordon but with the Latics going into administration and Fraser Forster reportedly not joining Celtic, Marshall could be available on a cut-price deal.
This news update involving Marshall caught the attention of many Celtic fans. They took to Twitter to express their negative opinion about their former goalkeeper potentially returning this summer.
Bain is ne happy Hart delighted but Marshall I’d be gutted. He was pretty poor before stopped at Celtic and was on his peak form years ago never really fancied him much. Bain is fine get a back up in or go out and get Hart

Can Marshall be a reliable first-choice goalkeeper for Celtic?
Absolutely
No, that'll be a bad move

If celtic sign joe hart I’ve not got a problem with that, could do a job here no problem. Good shot stopper and with a solid defence in front of him we’ll be fine . David Marshall it’s a no from me.

Marshall is a product of the Celtic youth academy and he broke into the club’s first team back in 2003. In the winter of 2007, he had a temporary loan stint at Norwich but he joined the Carrow Road club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2007 (via Transfermarkt).
Some more Celtic fans had a negative opinion about Marshall and made it clear that they wouldn’t like him back.
Would be so disappointed if Celtic cheaped out and went for Marshall over Hart/Barkas, especially this season… but I can absolutely see it happening

Right Celtic, you’ve been pretty sound the last couple of days with the Adidas patter and gettin Moi back. Please don’t ruin it by signing Joe Hart or David Marshall for the 10…??

These Hoops fans don’t like the idea of Marshall potentially returning to Parkhead. The 35-year-old has been a regular for Wigan in the 2019/20 season, making 34 appearances in all competitions. He has kept a total of 12 clean sheets as well (via Transfermarkt).
It shows that even at 35, Marshall can be a reliable man between the sticks. Since he’s been at Parkhead before, he’ll be a tried and tested option for the Hoops. They can’t afford to miss out on the tenth Premiership title in a row next season and having a reliable option like Marshall can really help them increase their chances of winning the league in the upcoming campaign.
