Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news linking them with a move to sign Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney.
The Daily Record recently published an update involving Toney, saying that Celtic have had an offer rejected for the striker. The Hoops had offered £5 million for Toney, but a source from Peterborough has told the Daily Record that the offer ‘was well short of their valuation’.
This news update caught the attention of many Celtic fans. They made their opinions very clear about this news and there was a mixed reaction about this from the fans.
I hope we get Toney. Quality player. But, we know, don’t make CL Groups ? A player of value will go ? Eddie most likely.

Will signing Toney have an impact on Edouard's future?
Yes, Edouard will leave
No, Edouard will stay anyway
Ivan is Leagues below Odsonne. Won’t be getting Him for 6,that’s way too much

we’re being linked with so many strikers i’m thinking its becoming more and more likely. He hasn’t looked very interested in the preseason games

Many of these Celtic fans are linking Toney’s arrival to the future of Odsonne Edouard, with some fearing that the Peterborough man’s arrival could potentially lead to Edouard departing Parkhead at some point in the future. One fan though, hopes that Celtic sign Toney this summer. The Glasgow Times has even reported that Parkhead is Toney’s preferred destination.
A few other Celtic fans also had concerns about the club’s interest in signing Toney.
If he’s coming here(Toney) for that outlay, he’s not playing 2nd fiddle to eddy. He’s off

So does this mean the Ajeti deal is off? £5m for a relatively unproven League 1 striker seems a bit excessive to me tbh
— Charlie (@CharlieMcQ67) July 28, 2020
Surely if we’re signing ajeti and Toney then Édouard is gone?

While some Celtic fans are concerned about Edouard’s future, one fan also expresses his concern about whether Toney coming in would lead to a move for Albian Ajeti falling through.
Toney was in excellent form for Peterborough in the 2019/20 League One season. He found the back of the net 24 times in the league and scored 26 goals in all competitions and even racked up seven assists for the Posh (via Transfermarkt).
This shows that he indeed is a reliable goalscorer and could add attacking impetus to the Celtic first-team. With Neil Lennon having confirmed that the club is in talks to hand Edouard a new contract, it seems unlikely that interest in Toney would mean that the Frenchman is leaving. So, it remains to be seen what impact this has on the Ajeti deal.
