Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update that has linked Odsonne Edouard with a move Crystal Palace recently.
The Scottish Sun recently relayed this update. The report claimed that the Eagles are plotting a £25 million swoop for the striker. They refer to Palace as ‘long-time admirers’ of Edouard and reveal that scouts from the Premier League side had been watching the Frenchman in the 2019/20 season.
The report goes onto say that Palace are ‘weighing up an ambitious move’ for Edouard, even though Celtic have made it clear that he is not for sale. It is also stated that ‘several top clubs’ have been in touch with Edouard’s representatives.
The Scottish Sun then relayed this information on Twitter as well. Their tweet caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who think that Edouard will not join Palace at this point.

These Celtic fans seem to think that Palace aren’t a club that suits Edouard and that the Hoops would need a higher fee to part ways with the striker.
Edouard’s current Transfermarkt value stands at £12.15 million and it stood at £13.50 million back in February. Despite that, some other Celtic fans said that £25million will not be enough.

These Celtic clearly aren’t pleased with the rumour about the Eagles and they want to see Edouard stay at Parkhead as well. It shows the liking they have for him and how much he means to the club.
Since initially joining on loan in 2017, Edouard has made 126 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. During this time, he has found the back of the net 60 times while picking up 31 assists as well (via Transfermarkt). He finished as the highest scorer in the 2019/20 Premiership season too.
It shows that Edouard is an impactful player for the Hoops. The reaction of the Celtic fans is a reflection of how important his numbers have been to the Bhoys over the years and they are right to feel that Palace should pay more.
