Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

The question from a Leeds fan asked Smyth if there was any truth in reports linking the Whites with the Celtic star, with reports in the Daily Mirror suggesting the possibility of the Frenchman arriving at Elland Road.

Smyth was asked: “Any truth in Leeds’ interest in Odsonne Edouard at Celtic?”

He replied: “I haven’t heard his name around Elland Road but would say that tabloid tales on players with reported £30m price tags strike me as a little presumptuous.”

Smyth then added that the Whites must resolve the issue with Jean-Kevin Augustin before they look at signing a striker.

“There’s also the little matter of Augustin to settle, as well, before money is spent on a goalscorer.”

Would you be pleased if Leeds signed Edouard?

TIF Thoughts…

Edouard, who is valued at £12.15m by Transfermarkt, has been linked with a move to Elland Road after he scored 27 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 campaign.

However, it seems as if Smyth has not heard anything to suggest the Whites are interested in signing the 22-year-old, and they might need to sort out the Augustin transfer first.

When Leeds agreed to take Augustin on loan, they agreed an obligatory purchase fee in the event they were promoted.

However, with the 23-year-old only making three first-team appearances and not having his loan extended, there have been suggestions that the Whites might try and get out of paying for Augustin. (16:15)

This could get messy, with RB Leipzig expecting to be paid if Leeds are promoted, so we will have to see how this situation develops.
