Many Celtic fans have been fuming at Ally McCoist after a tweet involving him emerged on social media.

McCoist was recently talking on TalkSport (via Daily Record) and was asked about the fixture list for the 2020/21 season that was released on Monday. Celtic will play Hamilton in their first game of the season, with the first Old Firm meeting scheduled for 17th October.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

When talking about the Old Firm and the fact that it will be played later in the year, McCoist referred to it as the ‘luck of the computer’, having suggested it was deliberately scheduled as late as possible to give the best chance for fans to be able to watch the game from the stadium.

A tweet about this was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record. This caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who flocked to this tweet and made their negative opinion about McCoist very clear.

Is McCoist readying his excuses already?

Celtic boss Neil Lennon had tipped the Old Firm derby to be pushed back in the 2020/21 season as this would allow fans to watch it from the stadium, arguing that TV companies would also be in favour of such a move (via The Scottish Sun).

But what McCoist had to say about the scheduling of the fixture left many other Celtic fans raging. They made their opinions very clear.

All of these Celtic fans are keen on mocking McCoist, who isn’t pleased that the first Old Firm clash has seemingly been pushed back to a later date.

Considering McCoist is a former Rangers player and manager, one can see why Celtic fans don’t have a particular liking towards him.

But pushing the Old Firm derby to October could certainly benefit everyone. The situation surrounding the pandemic could improve later in the year and this could allow fans to potentially attend the Old Firm and help them witness the big game from the stadium. So Lennon is right to have backed the sentiment, despite McCoist’s apparent concerns over integrity.
