Celtic-focused Twitter account @celticbible recently caught the attention of many Celtic fans after they posted a tweet revealing that the president of Austrian club Wolfsberger AC, Dietmar Riegler, ‘has revealed that an offer has come in from Celtic for prolific striker Shon Weissman.’
Weissman joined Wolfsberger on a free transfer last summer having previously played for Israeli club Maccabi Haifa. During his first season at the club, he scored an impressive 37 goals and provided eight assists in his 40 appearances for Wolfsberger in all competitions.
As per the Glasgow Times, Wolfsberger president Riegler recently spoke to Austrian publication Kleine Zeitung and he confirmed that “offers have come” for the attacker, with the Hoops being one of the clubs who have allegedly made a move for the 24-year-old Israel international.
After @celticbible shared this news on Twitter, plenty of Hoops supporters flocked to their tweet to react to the Wolfsberger AC president’s claim.

However, some Hoops fans did have some concerns over this news. One Celtic fan replied to this tweet to share that they believe the Hoops have ‘two very good strikers’ at the moment and questioned if Weissman would get into the Celtic squad, while another Celtic supporter replied to this post to question why their club would make a move for another striker, also indicating that they believe that there may not be space for Weissman at Parkhead.
Could be a good buy if his stats are anything to go by. We have to very good strikers atm though so I doubt he will get in ahead of them ??

Why would we be going in for another striker?

Considering how impressive Weissman’s goalscoring record has been since joining Wolfsberger, it may be fair to say that the attacker’s prolific nature could make him an asset for the Hoops and it may be understandable if the club believe that he could provide some competition for their current striking options.
