Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest tweet that journalist Kieran Devlin recently relayed on social media.
Devlin, who is The Athletic’s Celtic writer, recently shared an article of his on Twitter. The article talked about Celtic’s left-back situation and he argued in his tweet that left-back is a position which must be the Hoops’ ‘recruitment priority’. That is because there are ‘lingering doubts’ about Boli Bolingoli and it is uncertain whether Greg Taylor is the fix for that position.
This tweet from the journalist caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who flocked to it and made their opinions clear about Bolingoli and Taylor.
Disagree. A club functioning at our level cannot afford multiple players in each position of the highest standard. Taylor hasn’t done anything yet to prove he’s not up to the task. His back up will always be a Bolingoli or a kid.

Do Celtic need to sign a new left-back?
Yes
No
Taylor is good. Need a player in to fight him for his position but nothing so far suggests he shouldn’t be starting every game

I think young Taylor will come good and is coming along fine, there’s no harm but bringing in a seasoned left back for him to learn from.Don’t rate Bollingoli in the slightest, think he’s all over the shop and could be a target in games when he starts.

Many of these Celtic fans feel that Taylor might just be a good enough player for that position, but had a pretty negative opinion about Bolingoli. Some fans feel that Bolingoli would be good enough to only be Taylor’s backup in the left-back position.
I wouldn’t say we need 1. Taylor can do a job in there. I would be happy to go with Taylor at left back if it means we are spending more money on a goalkeeper which we are.

Need a quality lb in asap, taylor is decent enough for backup, and boli’s more of a left mid. By far it’s now the weakest area of our squad

Cant see Lenny doing anything there unless one of them is shipped and it wont be Taylor. CH should be the priority if barkas and ajeti sign tomorrow

Celtic sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal in the summer of 2019. As a result, they brought Taylor in from Kilmarnock and Bolingoli arrived from Rapid Vienna. Taylor made only 12 Premiership appearances for the Hoops last season, while Bolingoli did not play a single game in the 2019/20 Premiership season since the turn of the year.
This shows that neither of the two players could establish themselves as a regular in that position and it is easy to see why Devlin has doubts about them. Celtic fans can only hope that they learned some lessons last season and are now fully settled in to make an impact in the 2020/21 campaign.
