The Express and Star journalist Joe Edwards has aired his belief that Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raul Jimenez is ‘ready-made’ to join a ‘top club’.

This season, the forward has been in excellent form having netted a whopping 17 goals and six assists in 38 Premier League appearances (per WhoScored).

The Mexican’s solid goals return has earned Jimenez an impressive 7.25/10 average rating which has made him the second-best performer in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad in the league.

However, the 29-year-old striker’s form has not gone unnoticed as he has reportedly attracted the attention of some big-name clubs which he has previously discussed in an interview with Bolavip (via Tuttosport).

So, in the latest episode of the E&S Wolves Podcast, Edwards aired his belief that the Mexican is “ready-made” to leave Wolves and be successful.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “Jimenez, I think, is the one player on Wolves’ books that you would really say is ready-made to go in at a top club and succeed.

“I think there [are] other players that could – [Willy] Boly, [Ruben] Neves – but I think Jimenez would be the safest bet for a lot of top teams.

“If an offer does come in, we’ll see, but I think if Wolves get Europa League – and Jimenez has just had another baby, they’re very settled in Wolverhampton, both [him and his partner] are – then I think they’re in a good position to keep him.

“At the same time, this is football and there [are] no guarantees that he’ll stay. We’ve got to be open to that, that it could happen.

“[I’m] not saying it will happen or to expect it to happen, but there could be a big-money offer for Jimenez that will force Wolves to really think about it.”

TIF Thoughts…

With the number of big-name clubs that are reportedly keen on Jimenez, it would perhaps not be a surprise if the Mexican left Wolves this summer.

However, with three years left on his contract at Molineux and a market value of £36m according to Transfermarkt, it seems likely that the forward would command a hefty fee to sign from the Old Gold.
